Lif Exhibition - History

Lif Exhibition started in 1962 as MEDIF/MEFA exhibition committee. The purpose of the exhibition committee was for the benefit of the exhibition promotor as well as the exhibitors to ensure the best possible, practical arrangement on reasonable conditions in connection with meetings, symposiums, congresses and the like that are arranged by or for the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare professionals in Denmark.

There were three members of each association (MEFA = Danish manufacturers of medicinal products) and (MEDIF = importers of medicinal products) respectively. For each arrangement the committee appointed a Project Manager who negotiated price and exhibition area, a space in the scientific programme for exhibition visits, and possibility of the exhibitors to participate in the professional and social programme.

The Project Manager was to prepare a drawing of the stand and distribute the stands if possible by lot. Furthermore, the Project Manger should be present at the building of the stands, ensure that the exhibitors had built up their stands at the agreed time, that the opening hours and the coffee breaks were kept, and the dismantling of the stands did not start before the time agreed with the exhibition promotor.

The members of the committee took turns to perform this task free of charge, as MEFA established a secretariat to take care of the day-to-day administration.

The extent of the exhibition activities stepped up during the 1980s, and resulted in permanent employment of a Project Manager in 1990. Lif Exhibition established its first website in 2000, and was then able to present itself more professionally.

Vision & Mission

The vision of Lif Exhibition is to promote the industry’s visibility in the area of healthcare and medical technology. Lif Exhibition arranges exhibitions in connection with national and international meetings, symposiums, congresses and the like for professionals in the healthcare sector.

The mission of Lif Exhibition is to promote logistics, consultancy and network and ensure a professional arrangement on reasonable conditions for the benefit of the exhibition promotor as well as the exhibitors. Lif Exhibition negotiates and enters into agreements with exhibition promotors on financial and practical terms for the exhibitors.

Services

Lif Exhibition provides consultancy and participate in the planning of larger arrangements that include possibilities of commercial exhibitions.

Lif Exhibition up-dates on an ongoing basis a catalogue of companies interested in exhibitions. About 300 companies are in this catalogue. Each time Lif Exhibition enters into an agreement on a new exhibition, invitations regarding exhibitions to contact persons in the catalogue are forwarded.

Lif Exhibition offers

• Communicates with responsible persons at the exhibition venue.
• Registers the enrolled companies and prepare a drawing of the stand.
• Ensures that the exhibition facilities are cleared up and marked according to the drawing of the stand.
• Charges stand hire from the exhibitors and settles accounts with the exhibition promotors.
• Takes care that the necessary time for visits at the stands is indicated in the final programme.
• Points out for the exhibition promotor that an active dialogue with the exhibitors is a prerequisite for the development of the collaboration between the manufacturers / importers and healthcare professionals.

Lif Exhibition collaborates on an ongoing basis with other sector organisations in the area for instance the medico industry and The Danish Association of Diagnostic and Laboratory Equipment, (DADIF).

Lif Exhibition carries out 25-30 exhibitions annually. 10 to 40 exhibitors participate each time. The total number of booths every year is approximately 600.
